Insomnia and Frequent Urination

Did you know one of the major causes of insomnia is frequent urination?

Insomnia refers to a number of different problems such as inability to fall asleep easily, waking up during the night, sleeping restlessly, waking up early in the morning and dream disturbed sleep.

Sleeping problems are unfortunately very common and often people have to resort to sleeping tablets for some relief. In Chines Medicine theory there are many different causes of insomnia such as emotional problems, pain in the body, fatigue, digestive problems, stress and heat. One of the major causes is frequent urination.

In Chinese Medicine, to urinate more than once at night is considered abnormal. The more times an individual gets up to urinate at night, the more serious the condition. Disorders of the Kidneys and urinary bladder organs and can cause this problem. Some symptoms that can accompany the nocturnal urination are lower back pain, feeling cold, sore knees, and tiredness. These problems can be helped by balancing the organs with acupuncture and herbs to re-establish balance in the body. You can also tonify the Kidneys with food: prawns, walnuts, black beans, black sesame seeds and soya beans are excellent Kidney tonics.
